[edit] All Content is Editable
The image below has red marks and arrows pointing out all of the areas you can explore, add to and edit. Basically, everything you see can be edited including the 4 main content sections on the front page.
Just click on any link and you will be taken to a page you can edit.
[edit] How to Add Content
Click on a link and you will be taken to a page that already has some writing or has not yet been created and is waiting for you to write something. Write!!! Then scroll down, click "Show preview" to check your work before you save. Make whatever changes you want if needed, then click "Save page."
[edit] Clicking on word links
To add to this encyclopedia, click on any link in an article (usually red). You will be taken to a page that you can edit. Start typing in the large text field then scroll down, preview your entry and then save.
[edit] Clicking on "edit" links
You can also click on any "edit" links get to an editable page you can change or add to. Once you arrive at the new page, click on the "edit" tab at the top of the page and then start typing in the box.
[edit] Making word links
If you want to make a word a link to a new blank entry, just put left and right bracket (next to the letter "p" on the keyboard) around the word you want to be a link. Looks like this link
[edit] Making links through the URL:
URLs in MediaWiki correspond to the article title. Therefore, if you want to create a new page from scratch, just change the URL in the address bar in your browser (look to top of the screen for long text box). Delete all of the text after the equals sign (=) and type in a name for your new page.
Example: if you type "http://www.imaginopedia.com/index.php?title=Rain_in_Spain" in the address bar, you will be taken to a new page that you could create / edit called "Rain in Spain."
[edit] How to Add an Image
THIS WORKS FOR ANY ARTICLE ON THE SITE
PLEASE RESIZE YOUR IMAGE BEFORE UPLOADING IT SO THAT THE FILE IS NOT TOO LARGE!!
1. Click on the link on the left hand side of the page that says "Upload file"
2. Click on the "Browse" button to find the image on your computer, then click "Upload file"
3. When the server is done slurping up your image, you will get a page with the File History and other gobbledy gook that the site likes to spit out. MAKE NOTE OF THE NAME OF YOUR FILE - you'll need it later
4. Go back to the main page by clicking on the logo in the upper left hand corner (or wherever you want to go).
5. Scroll down to "Today's featured picture" (for example) and click the [edit] link
6. You will be taken to the editable version of this page. Click on the "edit" tab at the top of the page
7. You will see the little bit of code that calls the image. It looks like this
8. Highlight the "fish.jpg" part of the code (the name of the current image) and type in the name of your image.
